What type of business are you?

At Templar wines we specialise in both our wine knowledge and our thirty years knowledge of the on-trade drinks market.
One thing we have learned is that one cap certainly does not fit all when it comes to preparing wine lists. Our view is that selling wine in the on-trade can be split into trade sectors.
Each sector brings it’s own challenges and needs to be approached in a different way if you are going to succeed. We have identified the following sectors.
Restaurant– Largely a table led dining experience. A small holding bar for use for waiting diners, with most drinks and wine being selected at the table from drinks lists and menus.

Hotel – The Food and wine trade is largely driven by hotel guests and functions. Or can be a boutique hotel where casual and or fine dining are important.

Gastropub or Wine bar– Trade is punctuated by short bursts of intense activity followed by periods of more casual drinking. Time is money. The 45 minute lunch break dominate 12.00am-14.30pm and the quickie after work from 5.00 till 6.30pm which is a vertical drinking experience!

Pubs, bars, clubs – These businesses are more traditional. Good quality traditional pub food menus. Wine lists need to be well laid out, not too extensive nor too adventurous.

Business to Business –  You are a successful business and want to either reward customers or staff for high levels of purchase or commitment to their work. We have ideal wines to suit. We can deliver to your business or we can mail order wine to each individual anywhere in the UK

Events/ mobile – You are an extremely flexible business! Temporary bars and events. Time limited and space limited followed by exceptionally busy trading periods. Identify which one best suits you and take a look on how approach differs. If you like what you see just drop us a line. We’d be delighted to help you.
